Islamabad The monthly budget of the people has been dented heavily due to rising inflation as prices of all kitchen items have witnessed a sharp rise in the open market. The hike in rates of petroleum products, the second time in a month has started taking its toll on the lives of the common man who has to bear its brunt in the shape of rising prices of all kitchen items and transportation.
According to Pakistan Statistic Bureau (PSB), since July 1, 2021 prices of tomato witnessed a rise by Rs13.9, onion Rs5.39, garlic Rs7.80, LPG cylinder Rs51.24, ghee Rs2.50, petrol Rs1.99, diesel Rs1.37, Daal Moong by 3.45 per cent, chicken meat by 3.01 per cent, banana by 2.42 per cent, Daal Mash by 1.30 per cent, Atta by 1.05 per cent, Daal Masoor by 0.79 per cent, Daal Chana by 0.44 per cent, sugar by 0.04 per cent and prices of dry wood also rose by 0.43 per cent. ....

Rawalpindi: The business community of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have staged a protest demonstration on Monday against government decision regarding closure of all markets and shops at 6 pm and three-day break of commercial activities in a week.
A big gathering of business community carrying banners and placards blocked both sides of Murree Road at Liaquat Bagh. A heavy contingent of police was present to control the situation. Police high-ups fully tried to remove protesters from road but in vain.

Gas shortage hits Pindiites hard amid chilly weather

Rawalpindi : The gas crisis is worsening day-by-day as the consumers are running behind expensive LPG, woods, coal, kerosene oil in the absence of natural gas amid chilly weather. The SNGPL has announced to close down all CNG stations but still gas remains absent most of the day.
Over 40 per cent of ‘tandoors’ have closed down their businesses due to the absence of natural gas while others are buying expensive LPG cylinders or wood.
In the light of present circumstances, LPG sellers are looting the public with both hands and selling 1-kilogram gas at Rs170 to Rs200. The woodcutters also taking full advantage of the present situation and selling 40-kilogram dry wood at Rs800 and 1-kilogram coal at Rs90. The kerosene oil sellers are selling oil in ‘black’ at Rs150 per litre. ....
