KUALA LUMPUR: Former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad will know his fate on nine corruption charges involving RM3 million over the agency’s purchase of Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites (MPHS) in Kuching, Sarawak, this Wednesday (Feb 3).
High Court Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali will decide whether Mohd Isa, 71, who is also former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar is guilty of the offence or not.
According to the court case list, Justice Mohd Nazlan is expected to deliver his ruling at 9.30am. ....

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 1): Former FELDA chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad will know his fate on nine corruption charges involving RM3 million over the agency’s purchase of Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites (MPHS) in Kuching, Sarawak this Wednesday (Feb 3).
High Court Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali will decide whether Mohd Isa, 71, who is also former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar, is guilty of the offence or not.
According to the court cause list, Justice Mohd Nazlan is expected to deliver his ruling at 9.30am.
Mohd Isa was charged with nine counts of dishonestly receiving gratification for himself, in cash totalling RM3,090,000 from Ikhwan Zaidel, who is a board member of Gegasan Abadi Properties Sdn Bhd (GAPSB), through his former special political officer Muhammad Zahid Md Arip, as gratification for helping to approve the purchase of the hotel by FELDA Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FICSB) for RM160 million. ....

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 The Malaysian Bar president Salim Bashir said the transfer of judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali who convicted former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak last year is a “normal” matter.

Pakistan appoints new ambassador to UAE?

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is without an ambassador in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for six months after relinquishing Ambassador Ghulam Dastgir upon attaining superannuation in August last year. The government of Pakistan appointed Afzaal Mahmood as new ambassador for the UAE but no official versions has come about his movement to the new station. He was till recently country’s ambassador in Bahrain.
The UAE has stopped issuance of some types of visa for nationals from Pakistan since November last year and no further movement has been reported since then despite diplomatic efforts.
Well-placed diplomatic sources told The News here Tuesday that Ambassador Afzaal Mahmood is well versed with the diplomatic intricacies of the Arab world, while working in the region and the government sought consent of the host government for his appointment late last year but no official announcement has been made about the same by the Foreign Office so far. ....
