Rs130 million fine slapped on millers for substandard ‘atta’

Rawalpindi: The District Food Department has imposed a fine of Rs130 million on flourmills from July 2020 to March 6, 2021 for supplying sub-standard ‘atta’ at skyrocketing prices to the public. The concerned department has taken action against different flourmills according to ‘Wheat Release Policy’ in this regard.
According to District Food Department, dozens of flourmill owners are supplying low-quality ‘atta’ and looting innocent public with both hands. The department has taken action according to ‘Wheat Release Policy’. The authorities concerned have claimed to supply 80 per cent local wheat and only 20 per cent imported wheat to flourmills to grind. ....

ISLAMABAD: Zynab Khan from Sindh Thursday emerged as champion in the girls’ Under-19 category of the National Junior Squash Championship following her comprehensive victory in the final here at the Mushaf Squash Complex.
Zynab thrashed Maira Hussain of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 11-9, 11-2, 11-2 in the decider that turned out to be completely one-sided affair.
Zynab dominated the second and third games and did not allow her opponent to come even closer to the quality of squash she displayed. The match lasted for just 12 minutes.
In the boys’ Under-13 category final, Muhammad Zaman from Sindh got the better of Huraira Khan (KP) 11-3, 11-3, 11-6 in a one-sided affair to land the title. ....

Youth urged to take leadership roles

ISLAMABAD: Eminent social activist and development expert Shoaib Sultan Khan has urged the youth to take leadership roles in the rural support programmes to ensure the sustainable development of their communities. He was addressing a webinar on the rural support programmes organised by the Department of Sociology of the Quaid-i-Azam University here. The expert explained how this development concept works and how it makes the people of the community capable enough to take the step and bring change in society. “RSPs have changed the lives of 200 million people in the region,” he said. He said it was recommended to South Asian countries to make RSPs effective and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and mobilise the community to get rid of deprivation. Shoaib Sultan highlighted the detailed projects of RSPs, which are on the pipeline for the welfare of communities.
