ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday said the government would discuss electoral reforms with the opposition members of parliament (MPs) including Shehbaz Sharif, and not the fugitives like Nawaz Sharif and Altaf Hussain.
“Many leaders of both opposition parties, PMLN and PPP, are part of the parliamentary system and want its improvement, while Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Safdar, Fazlur Rehman and others, who are not part of the system, want to disrupt it for their personal benefits,” the minister said while briefing media persons about the decisions of cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Safety seminar for Pesco staff awareness

PESHAWAR: A safety seminar and special meeting were held for the awareness and safety of linemen of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco).
According to a press release, Chairman, Board of Directors, Pesco, Amir Zafar, presided over the seminar.Pesco Chief Executive Engineer Muhammad Jabbar Khan, Chief Engineer Operation Javed Iqbal Khan, Director General HR Zameer Hussain Kulachi, Director General Admin & Services Shuaib Khan, Director Safety Ishfaq Ahmad others attended the seminar.Addressing the seminar, Amir Zafar said that strict rules must be adopted for safety. “Safety must be given priority to avoid electrocution and electric shocks,” he added.

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Monday directed the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) officials to take steps to give relief to power consumers.
According to an official handout, he was chairing a meeting to discuss the issue of power loadshedding and low voltage in certain areas of the province.
The meeting discussed steps to resolve the issues of low voltage and loadshedding of electricity. Pesco Chief Engineer Muhammad Jabbar Khan and other officials attended the meeting. The meeting was briefed about the progress made on the ongoing projects to improve power infrastructure across the province.
Speaking at the meeting, the chief minister said that three new grid stations had been completed in the provincial capital and these would soon become functional.
