They know it’s been the hardest year of everybody’s lives, but they want to encourage people to continue to do their party to keep the community safe. The group is made up of Abbeyfield Caledon, Bethell Hospice, Boston Mills Retirement Community, Caledon Community Services, Choices Youth Shelter, Community Living Dufferin, Dufferin Area Family Health Team, Dufferin Child and Family Services, Dufferin Oaks Long Term Care Home, Family Transition Place, Hospice Dufferin, Kerry’s Place, Lord Dufferin Centre, Oliver House, Pine River Institute, Shelburne Long Term Care Home and Retirement Community, SHIP, and South Bridges Care Community.

Caledon, Brampton Mayors call for all of Peel to be designated COVID hotspot

April 14, 2021   ·   0 Comments By ROB PAUL Initiative Reporter On April 14, at Brampton City Hall, Mayor Patrick Brown was joined by Caledon Mayor Allan Thompson and Peel Region Medical Officer of Health Dr. Lawrence Loh to provide an update on the COVID-19 situation in Peel as well as the need for more vaccines.  With growing numbers in the Peel Region, Brown and Thompson talked about the need to designate the entire region as a hotspot to allow for more people to get vaccinated sooner. “I’ve been working urgently with (Mayor Thompson) on [highlighting] the urgency of vaccinating our essential workplaces,” said Brown. “I would note that there are so many commonalities and similarities between Caledon and Brampton. As climate change continues to become more crucial, Environmental Defence was hopeful the Ford government would change their tune and put more effort into reducing emissions with the Provincial budget being a jumping-off point for a shift towards preserving the future. “We are disappointed with this budget,” said Environmental Defence Programs Director Keith Brooks. “We were hopeful that the government would use the opportunity of the budget to kind of reset their approach to the environment.
