Advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace starts with business schools showing companies how and why to put DEI policies in place. As people around the world reel from disturbing images of social injustice, many of us are experiencing personal epiphanies about our own unconscious biases. For the past year, business schools, as well as many of our corporate partners, have been forced to look inward. As we did so, many of us saw opportunities for improvement. In this process of self-examination, even the most diverse institutions among us are discovering that we have not done enough to level the playing field for large segments of our society for those who are unable to gain access to executive roles and leadership opportunities. Research has found that much of the time, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) elude us not because we openly discourage DEI in our workplaces, but because we hold biases and stereotypes that we do not even know ....
Employers being ghosted by prospective employees TAMPA, Fla. - A growing number of people are landing job interviews, and even job offers, but then not showing up for the prospective employer in what’s known as job ghosting. It’s a job seeker’s market right now with plenty of options, so business experts said that trend is forming among some candidates. It is, unfortunately, becoming somewhat of a norm. For the first time since December 2019, the University of South Florida is holding in-person commencement ceremonies. To accommodate graduates and some family members, a pair of ceremonies will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. COVID-19 forced USF to hold virtual ceremonies in spring, summer, and fall of 2020. Graduates from those classes and their families will be invited to a more traditional commencement in the future when COVID-19 restrictions are lowered. About 7,200 degrees will be awarded, including 5,206 undergraduate, 1,691 master’s, 289 doctoral and 12 specialist’s degrees. Among the graduates are the first 30 students from USF s accelerated nursing program on the Sarasota-Manatee campus. Students in the program should graduate in 16 months. The first class started in January 2020, and was forced to study online during the pandemic. They eventually were able to resume in-person instruction, including la ....
