UNGA President urges to create sustainable economy to preserve oceans UNGA President urges to create sustainable economy to preserve oceans United Nations, Jun 2 (Prensa Latina) The President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) Volkan Bozkir on Tuesday called to create a sustainable economy capable of preserving the oceans. Speaking on his Tuesday´s high-level debate on Sustainable Development Goal number 14 (SDG14) of the 2030 Agenda for preservation and sustainable use of the oceans, Bozkir urged to draw up stronger policies in favor of marine ecosystems. He recognized some countries and cities´ stances prioritizing coastal and marine areas over tourism, as well as their efforts to address illegal fishing, regulation of maritime transport, and resource extraction. ....

David Meade, who represents Kentucky s 80th District, was honored with the Champion for Children Award on May 26 at the Children s Alliance annual membership meeting by Children s Alliance President Michelle Sanborn.  State House Speaker Pro Tempore David Meade, R-Stanford, was recently awarded the Champion for Children Award from the Children s Alliance , a state association of 37 private agencies that provide foster care and behavioral health services to Kentucky s most vulnerable children and families. Rep. Meade received the award for his leadership during the 2021 Legislative Session where he successfully passed legislation to clarify and expand the rights of foster parents, as well as the benefits available to relative and fictive kin caregivers.
