Marion affordable housing plan could hurt Hillcrest horse program

The property abuts the back property of Hillcrest School, 3143 SE 17th St., near the Frank DeLuca YMCA Family Center.
Though the riding arena on the Hillcrest grounds would not be negatively affected, two of three pastures for the older horses could end up off limits. The older horses, some with arthritis, cannot be left in stalls for long periods.
The city of Ocala will have to weigh in on a zoning change, which could be as soon as May, Commissioner Michelle Stone said. Marion County has hired Kimley-Horn & Associates to shepherd the plan through the zoning change.
