Sixty years since the beginning of the Algerian war : National fronts?

National fronts?
The Algerian War began 60 years ago. Some eight years later, a new Arab nation came about – and a million Algerians of French origin fled to France. During her campaign for the local and European elections at the beginning of 2014, Marine Le Pen addressed an open letter to her friends, the
harkis and
pieds-noirs . It was an assessment of the former French president Charles de Gaulle, the founding father of the Fifth Republic. ....

American Rifleman | 'Bad Timing': Rise & Fall of Luxembourg's SOLA Submachine Guns

Luxembourg is not a country that is known for gun-making, nor is it typically associated with the political intrigues of decolonizing the African continent. The guns that had fought World War II were, by then, nearing the end of their service lives and more contemporary designs were in growing demand, so gunmakers across ....

What Has Become of the GRU, Russia's Military Intelligence Agency?

What Has Become of the GRU, Russia’s Military Intelligence Agency?
To understand the Czech arms depot explosion, you have to delve into the history books.
Dalibor Gluck / CTK / TASS
Two striking facts from a Czech investigation into the GRU’s role in the 2014 explosions of ammunition depots in the village of Vrbetice shed light on how the GRU has developed over the years.
First, investigators learned that GRU agents organized the two explosions that claimed human lives on the territory of a European country. This was part of an operation to poison Bulgarian arms dealer Emilian Gebrev, thereby disrupting the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Second, it turned out that the same two GRU operatives who had attempted to poison Sergei Skripal in the United Kingdom personally arranged the explosions. ....
