AmaZulu moved to second spot on the DStv Premiership table after snatching a 1-0 win away to Stellenbosch FC on Friday evening.
Thembela Sikhakhane and Xola Mlambo were named on Usuthu’s bench following their return from suspension, while Stellies’ attack featured Stanley Dimgba and Ashley Du Preez.
Du Preez was on the receiving end of a clear chance to put Stellies ahead on eight minutes after running onto a move in behind, but he dragged inches wide in the end.
Junior Mendieta followed up the hosts pursuit to bag the two minutes later with a rasping shot from out wide which in the end nestled the side-netting of Veli Mothwa’s goal. ....

Kaizer Chiefs came from behind twice to salvage a 2-2 draw with Stellenbosch FC in a DStv Premiership clash at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Erick Mathoho and Willard Katsande came into the Chiefs starting line-up in place of the suspended Njabulo Blom and Yagan Sasman. Meanwhile, Steve Barker made just the single change with Robyn Johannes being replaced by Marc van Heerden.
Chiefs had the first opportunity of the match. Ngcobo controlled the ball on his thigh and let it bounce before unleashing a fierce strike on the volley towards the bottom left-hand corner, which Stellies shot-stopper Sage Stephens did well to tip around the post. ....

JOHANNESBURG – Peter Shalulile scored deep into stoppage time to ensure that Mamelodi Sundowns began the post-Patrice Motsepe reign with a win after they defeated Stellenbosch FC 2-1 at a scorching hot Danie Craven Stadium yesterday afternoon.
