The Navajo Nation Office of the Controller said Thursday that nearly 30,000 who applied for the Navajo CARES Hardship Assistance Program could potentially not get help due to missing records. ....

Freeport's St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church gives away food boxes

FREEPORT Cars lined up well ahead of time for Friday s food distribution at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, which gave away 200 boxes of food during the drive-thru event that takes place every other week at the church.
Since September, more than 1,400 boxes of food has been given to area residents by the church, which partners with the Northern Illinois Food Bank, Department of Agriculture, and National Baptist Convention USA to help meet the needs of the many who struggle to put food on the table.
The Rev. Antwon Funches Sr., the pastor, said the church has seen a need for food due in part to the economic challenges post by the COVID-19 pandemic. Some people just need something extra to help get by. ....
