Sheriff's Office issues phone scam alert

The Monroe County Sheriffâs Office is again alerting residents of phone scams after receiving reports recently of thieves using a popular method/lie: A family member is in some trouble and needs your money.
All residents should be weary of any unknown third party caller requesting money because a loved one is supposedly in trouble, according to Sheriff s Office spokesman Adam Linhardt. Always hang up and call that loved to make sure theyâre OK. Never send money over the phone. Legitimate law enforcement does not operate in such ways.
Usually the scammers will say something like your loved one has been arrested or was involved in a vehicle crash. Hang up even if the callers claim to be law enforcement, Linhardt said. ....

East Bernard bank robber still at large

The hunt for a man who allegedly robbed and threatened to set off a bomb in East Bernardâs Amegy Bank Tuesday continues with the Wharton County Sheriffâs Office teaming with the FBI.
Video of the heavily-built man shows him wearing a gray hoodie, dark sweatpants and a purple cap when he entered the bank located in the 800 block of Dill Street (Hwy. 60) around 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 13.
He demanded money from a bank teller and then said he would place a bomb outside in front of the building and set it off if anyone called law enforcement, according to the WCSO. ....

For instance the hay should be cut just before the sweet clover comes to blossom to prevent the hay becoming woody. Care must be exercised in putting the hay in cocks to prevent the leaves from shattering. Carelessness on these two points loses about 65% of the feeding value of the hay amounting to over $20,000 in the county on the estimated acreage.
