East Grand Forks School Board rescinds mask requirement

East Grand Forks School Board rescinds mask requirement The board will continue to follow guidance from the state, but voted unanimously to rescind its own mask requirement. 6:29 pm, Jun. 28, 2021 × East Grand Forks Senior High School. File photo The East Grand Forks School Board unanimously voted to rescind its mask requirement policy at its regular meeting Monday night, June 28. I think it s time, district Superintendent Mike Kolness said at the meeting. It s a good idea to rescind it. It doesn t guarantee there ll be no face coverings in the building – we will still follow the guidance from the Department of Education and the Department of Health. It would sure be great if we didn t have to, but we ll wait and see what transpires at the state level. But I think now would be the appropriate time to rescind the policy.

Construction begins on Three Forks school

Ground officially will be broken today on Three Forks School’s expansion and renovation, and Superintendent Jeff Elliott said excavation is likely to start on the project as early as next week. The three-phase, $25 million project includes an addition of a new high school, a new gym/flex space, and eight elementary school classrooms; renovation of the old high school; and a complete overhaul of the outdated mechanical/electrical/and plumbing systems. Three Forks students in grades K-12 attend school under the same roof. The project contractor is Langlas and Associates, a firm with considerable school construction experience. Langlas has developed a schedule and plan to minimize disruption for staff and students as much as possible.

GF School Board reviews referendum plans

By Doug Barrett May 11, 2021 | 8:30 AM A single voting site will be utilized for the June school referendum election.  The Grand Forks School board agreed to run the June 22nd event out of the Alerus Center.  Voters will decide two issues next month – the $86 million dollar bond question as well as a 10 mill hike in the building fund. Board members last night also received a briefing on some of the preliminary concepts that could be built into a new K-8 campus on the city’s north side.  The project would merge West…Wilder…and Winship elementary schools with Valley Middle School.
