NOIDA: Amid complaints from residents over civic services, the Noida Authority is expediting work on entry gates, which are aimed at boosting the image and beauty of the city.
Three of four such gates will be ready by July-end.
But residents said that the focus should be more on providing basic infrastructure and facilities. “The city requires quality and quantity water, proper electricity supply, better roads, sanitation and drainage. The money spent on beautification of the city is a waste of taxpayers’ money,” said a resident. However, officials said that the gates, built at a cost of Rs 9.3 crore, are a part of the city development works and will encourage investments.

Noida: At least two key public infrastructure projects in Noida the six-lane underpass at the Sector 71 intersection and the under-construction flyover over the Parthala roundabout are staring at delays.
This is because the work productivity at the project sites has dropped significantly over the past few weeks due to exodus of migrant workers in the wake of the lockdown. TOI has learnt that 80-85% of workers at both the sites have already returned to their home states or districts, a clear indication that the situation is going to get worse in the coming days. While the six-lane 780m underpass due for completion in June may get delayed by at least a month, the 697-m-long flyover over the Parthala roundabout at the junction of Vikas Marg and the under-construction Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad Expressway (FNG) is likely to miss its December 2021 deadline.

A 20-year-old woman in Madhya Pradesh s Shahdol district was kidnapped, kept captive at a farmhouse for two days and repeatedly gang raped by four people. According to PTI, one of the accused is a local leader of the ruling BJP.

Bhopal: A 20-year-old woman was gang-raped allegedly by four persons, including a BJP functionary, in Madhya Pradesh s Shahdol district, police said on Sunday. The ruling party later in the evening issued a statement that the accused office-bearer had been removed from its primary membership.

A BJP worker along with three others have been booked for allegedly abducting and raping a 19-year-old woman in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh, police said.
In a statement on Sunday, the BJP said the accused office-bearer had been removed from its primary membership.
The Case
A 19-year-old woman reportedly went missing from outside her house on February 18. Her family filed a missing person’s complaint the next day.
She was allegedly abducted in a four-wheeler, forced to drink liquor in a farmhouse in Gadaghat area under Jaitpur police station limits and then gang-raped on February 18 and 19, said Shahdol Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mukesh Vaish.
