Donald Guss Lehmann 1951 - 2020
Guss passed peacefully away from cancer in the comfort of his home on Monday evening, December 14, 2020. His wife, Marilynn, son Marc, granddaughter Sam and great-granddaughter B were there by his side.
He was born June10, 1951, in McMinnville, Oregon, to Melvin and Mary Jane Lehmann. He was joined by brothers Ron and Steve.
He was raised in Newberg, Oregon, and attended Newberg schools, graduating from Newberg High School in 1969.
He joined the United States Navy in 1970. He was assigned to his first ship, the USS Park County (LST-1077). His job was a navigator. The ship traveled up and down rivers delivering supplies, fuel, food and ammunition to the troops on the ground in South Vietnam. The Park County was fired upon by enemy and friendly fire. The second ship was a Forrest Sherman-class destroyer. During the war, the ship was shelled by the North Vietnamese land forces, and by friendly fire as well. Guss traveled and saw a l ....

NeighborImpact Board of Directors Elects 2021 Officers
Central Oregon NeighborImpact’s board of directors has elected its 2021 officers. There are currently 14 members on the NeighborImpact Board of Directors and board members must be residents of Crook, Deschutes, Jefferson counties or the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. The NeighborImpact board draws its membership from three segments: elected officials, community members and economically disadvantaged residents.
Chad Carpenter of La Pine will continue as board president. Brent Wilkins of Bend will continue as vice president and Brenda Comini of Prineville will continue as secretary treasurer.  Heather Simmons of Bend will serve a second term as Executive Committee member at large.  Dan Martinez of Warm Springs is newly elected to the Executive Committee as a member at large. ....

Long-time Sisters resident David Banks remembers a day long ago when he rode down Cascade Avenue on the back of a Triumph motorcycle on his way to the B Bar B tavern.
He was familiar with Sisters because his parents had a place at Black Butte Ranch where he visited often. When things changed for him in Palo Alto, California, where he was living, he made the decision to “matriculate north,” to Sisters. He had a best friend in Tumalo and Banks decided to settle in Tollgate, where he and his wife Adrienne raised their children, John and McKenzie, who attended Black Butte School, graduating from Sisters High School. ....
