The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu said that the Federal Government is making conscious and sustained efforts for Nigeria to be at the forefront of new and emerging technologies, saying that Nigeria should not be excluded from any branch of Science and Technology.
Dr. Onu made the remarks at the 2nd interactive forum with the State Commissioners In charge of Science and Technology in Abuja on Thursday.
According to the Minister, “We have virtually concluded consultations with relevant stakeholders within the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of the Federal Government as it concerns Nanotechnology. We find nanotechnology to have applications in virtually all other technologies, including space, artificial intelligence, and robotics as it concerns improved productivity and reduction in size and cost.” ....

GAZA: After touring rubble-strewn areas of Gaza hit by airstrikes during fighting between Israel and Hamas, the top UN aid official in the region appealed to both sides on Saturday to observe a ceasefire as aid teams assess the damage.

Somali leaders begin ''preliminary'' talks to hold elections

Preliminary talks on Somali’s impending elections began Saturday as leaders of this Horn of African nation met in Mogadishu to discuss an election, that has faced postponement.
Somali’s Prime Minister and leaders of the five semi-autonomous states, including mayor of Mogadishu have been discussing ways of easing tensions in the country.
Issues to be tabled for deliberations include the composition of the electoral commission and that of security.
It is still not clear what the duration of these preliminary discussions will be.
But sources have told AFP that finalization of the organization of the elections, including date for the vote, will be known on a yet to be announced second meeting date. ....
