Pasang Sherpa, in March 2020, was ready for his fifth Everest expedition. He had prepared everything for the two-month journey to the top of the world. He had trained better than any other year and bought various equipment that would help him in the mountain. In order to go up the ranks from a climber to a mountain guide, he had even polished his speaking skills. Pasang had a lot of hope and dreams in 2020. Kathmandu, Feb 1 (efe-epa).- A Nepalese government investigative committee on Monday recommended revoking Everest climbing certificates and imposing a 10-year ban on two Indian climbers for submitting false documents of their ascent.
According to the committee, Indian athletes Narender Singh Yadav and Seema Rani Goswami, who claimed having scaled the world’s highest mountain in 2016, had retouched photos depicting them standing at the summit of the 8,848.86-meter high mountain.
“A government investigation concluded on Monday that photographs purporting to show the climbers at the top of the world’s highest mountain were fake,” Nepal’s Tourism Ministry spokesperson Taranath Adhikari told EFE. ....

Nepal To Issue Licenses For Mountaineering Guides For 1st Time

Kathmandu:  In a first, the Nepal government has decided to issue licenses for mountaineering guides to climb the Himalayan mountains.
To date, based on the recommendation of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, an institution comprising several stakeholders in the mountaineering sector, the government had allowed the guides to travel with the mountaineers, reports Xinhua news agency.
“We are issuing the licenses to the mountaineering guides for the first time. The licensed guides will be responsible for helping the mountaineers to climb the country’s mountains,” Meera Acharya, undersecretary at the Department of Tourism, which issues mountaineering permits, told Xinhua.
She said that a notice will be issued regarding the criteria to obtain a license in the next few days. ....

KATHMANDU, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) Mountaineers will have to use licensed mountaineering guides to climb the Himalayan Mountains from Nepal s side after the Nepali government decided early this week to issue such a license.
It is the first time that the Nepali government is preparing to issue licenses to mountaineering guides. To date, based on the recommendation of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, an institution comprising several stakeholders in the mountaineering sector, the Nepali government has been allowing the guides to travel with the mountaineers.
