Minot Public Library increases hours beginning Monday | News, Sports, Jobs

The Minot Public Library will be increasing its hours beginning Monday, according to a press release issued by the City of Minot.
The library will now be open to the public Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The change in hours is because Ward County has now moved to a “moderate risk level” for transmission of the new coronavirus.
Library staff has been diligent about cleaning and allowing for social distancing and patrons have been very cooperative about wearing face coverings, so they felt it safe to increase our hours, said library director Janet Anderson in the press release. ....

City of Minot offices closed Monday | News, Sports, Jobs

City of Minot offices will be closed Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, including City Hall, Public Works and the Engineering Department.
The regular City Council meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Minot Public Library will be open on Monday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
City transit buses will run on their regular schedule on the holiday.
There will be no residential garbage collection on Monday; the next pickup day for residents with Monday/Thursday collection will be Thursday, Jan. 21.
The City of Minot landfill will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on the holiday. ....

January is a time when many people look back and reflect on the previous year and look forward to the upcoming year with hope and anticipation, this year even more so. The local Minot Public Library is no different as staff, board members, and volunteers reflect back on a year of change and pivot.
For the Minot Public Library, 2020 was certainly a year of transformation; some of this was planned and much of it was not. We started the year with many changes including a large exterior renovation to protect and update the building as well as re-carpeting the second floor. In addition, the retirement of our Children’s Librarian, Paulette Nelson after 40 years of service was a time for celebration. We welcomed some new members to the Library team and wished others farewell as they retired, moved and began new careers. ....
