MH senior wins Congressional Art Competition

Mountain Home senior Reagan Buckley was recently awarded the Best in Show award at the First Congressional District Art Competition hosted by U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford. Buckley will now have her winning artwork displayed in Washington, D.C. Buckley used charcoal and white conte to create her winning drawing, entitled “Embrace.” Her artwork will be displayed in the Cannon Hall for a year along with other congressional district winners. She will also receive two airline vouchers to travel to D.C. to attend the Congressional Art reception later this summer. Crawford’s’s office received more than 200 submissions from grades 9-12 for this year’s competition. Jayson Mirafuentes and Brandon King, both of Jonesboro, served as the competition’s judges.

(KAIT) - One conversation in a downtown Jonesboro restaurant has inspired many to work together by providing a warm meal for the homeless in the community. The Recovery Room Coffeehouse and Bistro had a conversation with a regular customer who asked, “Who is cooking holiday meals for the homeless?” That’s when manager Nancy Owens and the customer began brainstorming and talking. They then decided to take the matter into their own hands.
