WEST SPRINGFIELD Although it’s been one of the town’s signature recreation facilities for more than a year, the Bagg Brook Heritage Trail had to wait until Friday for its official dedication.
In a ceremonial ribbon-cutting on the nature path next to the Morgan Road Pavilion, officials said the three-quarter-mile loop has already proven popular with hikers of all ages, dog owners and participants in Park and Recreation Department events. It’s also part of a long-term vision for additional recreational facilities in the center of West Springfield, on several town-owned properties between Amostown and Morgan roads, west of Piper Road. ....

WEST SPRINGFIELD If Mayor William Reichelt has his way, residents may soon be calling the town to complain that their roads are too smooth.
Reichelt is touting speed humps as a solution to speeding complaints on residential streets in West Springfield. He is asking the Town Council to pass an ordinance allowing the town to install speed humps when residents request them. ....
