A public presentation during a Meaford Council meeting has brought attention to a proposed development project that would include nearly 250 residential units, a five-storey hotel and a spa. The presentation on May 17 was held by Skyline Skydev, a Canadian development business who has had a hand in multiple residential and commercial developments in small to mid-sized communities across the province. Named Knight’s Harbour, the 2.42 hectares of land Skyline is looking to develop is situated between Meaford’s waterfront owned by the Municipality Fuller Street and Boucher Street East. ....

Last Updated: May 17, 2021 | 8:39 AM Meaford Council has approved a recommendation to award the tender for the Trowbridge St. Resurfacing and Parking Lot Reconstruction project, worth over $160,000. During a council meeting last week, a report from Meaford’s Treasurer and Director of Corporate Services Darcy Chapman identified the resurfacing project, which will also include improvements to the sidewalks at Sykes St. N. and Trowbridge St. intersection, and the construction of on-street parking next to the Meaford Library. The total budget for this project was set at $210,900, with the tender award being recommended to council going to Tri-Capital Construction Inc. at $162,912. The funds to support the project were split between, $36,000 from grants, $86,475 from taxes, $62,700 from reserve funds, $15,700 from the reserve supported contingency budget, and $10,000 from reserve supported engineering. ....

At a recent meeting, council approved awarding a $3.08-million contract to Jeviso Construction for the Nelson Street Booster Pumping Station Project. It was the lowest of seven bids the municipality received, around $150,000 under what was budgeted for the work. The booster station project also includes watermain work along Nelson Street and upgrades to the water treatment plant. According to a staff report, the work on Nelson Street would fall within Me0305aford’s 2021 Environmental Services Capital Budget. According to Meaford’s Director of Infrastructure Services Victoria Perejmybida, the funding for this project would be coming from a few different sources. ....
