Iowa
Mike Hauschild pitched well, but got stuck with the loss anyway after giving up the lead on a solo home run by Christin Stewart in the fifth inning. Hauschild pitched six innings and allowed two runs on two hits. He walked three and struck out three.
Tony
Cingrani pitched a scoreless inning in his Cubs organization debut. He gave up no hits. He walked one batter, but picked him off of first. Cingrani struck out two.
DH
Tyler Gushue hit a home run in the fifth inning, his sixth home run on the year. Gushue went 2 for 4.
In a landslide, you picked Iowa Cubs reliever
Ben Leeper as your choice for the BCB Cubs Minor League Pitcher of the Year! I guess when you don’t give up a hit all month, you’ll impress people. (That’s not quite what Leeper did as he gave up some hits in Double-A before his promotion. But he did not give up a hit in Triple-A all month.)
By the way, if any corporation wants to sponsor the BCB Cubs Minor League Awards, let me know. And don’t tell Al or SB Nation. But the Acme BCB Minor League Player of the Month Award has a nice ring to it, if the Acme Corporation would like to sell products to someone other than Wile E. Coyote.

Congratulations to Iowa Cubs outfielder
Michael Hermosillo, who you voted as the BCB Minor League Player of the Month for June!
Iowa Cubs
The Iowa Cubs martyred the St. Paul Saints (Twins), 15-2. It was the first time Iowa has ever beaten the Saints in Des Moines in ten attempts.
Matt Swarmer kept the Saints from scoring for six innings, allowing just four hits. Swarmer walked two and struck out four as he collected his first win of the season.
Third baseman
Tyler Ladendorf had a huge night, going 4 for 5 with his second home run of the year. The home run came with the bases empty in the second inning. Ladendorf had five total RBI on the evening.
