Three virtual Chinese New Year festivals, featuring arts and culture community programmes, look set to add much-needed festive and traditional joy to homes across Malaysia amid the pandemic.
The
New Year, New Hope online festival, organised by the Selangor state government, will be streamed (free) on Friday (February 12) at 9pm via the Selangor Menteri Besar’s Mandarin Facebook page.
The videos were mainly shot at the MBSA Auditorium, Shah Alam in early December and different locations in Selangor and one in Penang. ....

Penang Miao Hui celebration goes virtual this year

THE Miao Hui celebration held annually during Chinese New Year takes a twist this year by going online.
Audience will be able to participate virtually through various programmes held to promote the theme of the celebration ‘Cultural Gems’ within the heritage enclave.
In a live video hosted online to kickstart the celebration last Saturday, Penang Chinese Clan Council chairman Datuk Ang Cho Teing said the new format was to keep up with difficult times during the pandemic. ....
