When Silver- thorne resident Jacob Miller visited Mesa County earlier this month to ride the Lunch Loops trail system, he relied entirely on his legs and lungs to power a regular mountain bike.
But when asked if he thought electric-powered bikes, or e-bikes, should be allowed on trails like those at Lunch Loops, he said he saw no reason not to allow them.
âI mean, itâs all about impacts, right, and they donât have any more impact on the trail than a regular bicycle. Theyâre not noisy, I mean not impactful in any way, on the environment, on the ears,â he said. ....

Man charged in 2018 hit-and-run death of York Co. cyclist to serve 4 years in prison

YORK Co., Va. - A man charged in the death of a cyclist in York County in 2018 will spend time behind bars.
According to the York-Poquoson Circuit Court Clerk, on May 18, Alexander Crosby was sentenced to 10 years with seven years suspended on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in a vehicle and 10 years with nine years suspended for failure to stop - accident/felony death in the death of Brian Utne.
In total, Crosby will serve four years in prison.
Crosby, then 25 years old, was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving and leaving the scene of a crash that killed 50-year-old Utne, who was riding his bicycle on Lakeside Drive at Yorkville Road in October 2018. ....

CLEVELAND â Bike Cleveland hosted its tenth annual Ride of Silence on Cleveland Public Square and remembered local bicycle riders who lost their lives or were seriously injured in bike-related crashes.
Riders shared their stories and called for greater roadway safety measures and improvements in the judicial system.
Bike Cleveland Executive Director Jacob VanSickle told News 5 sadly fatal bike crashes are climbing in Ohio, with 55 riders killed in 2020, an 88% increase compared to 2019. VanSickle urged motorists and the City of Cleveland to take more steps to improve the safety of the Northeast Ohio riding environment. ....
