Lake area nursing home to start giving coronavirus vaccine to residents and workers

Arrowhead Senior Living Community is scheduled to give out doses of coronavirus vaccine to its residents and staff starting Thursday.
Ali Ellis, marketing director for Midwest Health which operates Arrowhead, said, There are 32 assisted living and memory care residents at Arrowhead [and] 100% of them have opted to take the vaccine. So every single resident at Arrowhead assisted living and memory care is going to be vaccinated (Thursday).
All residents will receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday. While the vaccine is not required for residents and staff, it has been highly encouraged, according to the news release. ....

Pioneer Ridge Health and Rehab resident Janet Rusk receives a COVID-19 vaccine on Dec. 29, 2020.
Staff members and residents at Pioneer Ridge Health & Rehab were given the option to receive a COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday, according to the skilled nursing facility.
Walgreens administered the Pfizer vaccine at Pioneer Ridge Health & Rehab, 4851 Harvard Road, to staff and residents of the facility’s skilled nursing and rapid recovery units, a news release from the organization said.
“We feel so fortunate to be offering the vaccine to our residents and staff,” Ann Bell, Pioneer Ridge Health & Rehab administrator, said in the release. “We cannot thank Walgreens and the CDC enough for prioritizing our community and senior living communities across the country.” ....

Capacity limited for some Kansas City metro hospitals

KANSAS CITY METRO (KCTV) As COVID-19 continues to strain resources in the Kansas City area, infection and hospitalization rates remain high. And several area hospitals are running out of room.
Those local hospitals reported earlier this week a shift in resources to coronavirus patients say they are no longer taking transfers because of a lack of capacity. Those facilities include Overland Park Regional Medical Center, St. Luke s South, Lawrence Memorial Hospital and Menorah Medical Center, according to the Kansas Healthcare Regional Report.
HCA Midwest said they are no accepting transfers as of Wednesday afternoon:Â
