Come to Mizzou, play basketball, win trophies. Haven’t we always said that?
We haven’t? Maybe we should start. The power of positivity to speak things into existence and all that.
Anyway, at least now we have some precedent to work with! After finally finding what seems to be a career-best fit in Salt Lake City, Jordan Clarkson capped arguably the best year of his professional career by winning the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award.
Clarkson, who has played for the Los Angeles Lakers and Cavaliers in addition to the Jazz over the course of his seven-year NBA career, averaged a career-high 18.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 26.7 minutes in 68 games during the 2020-21 regular season. He received 65 of the 100 first-place votes cast by the global panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters who vote for all of the league’s various season-long awards. ....

Is the NFL Draft this week? No! Are we previewing it anyway? Yes!
Things are a little slow on the old Mizzou News home front these days. The basketball transfer portal has slowed down, recruiting is at a low simmer and the non-revenue sports are chugging along until they get to the postseason.
That means we’ve got about a week to kill before we reach the next big talking point for football which is, of course, the NFL Draft. So what better way to kill that time than by talking about it! ....

This Week in Twitter: Trevor Lawrence Puts Respect on Justin Fields, Richard Sherman Approves of Gee Scott Jr.'s Position Change

Trevor Lawrence. Justin Fields. Justin Fields. Trevor Lawrence.
The two all-time great college quarterbacks fought back-and-forth in high school for the No. 1 overall ranking in their 2018 recruiting class, and they went at it on the field in back-to-back College Football Playoffs.
So it shouldn t be surprising that, throughout their many years of being high-level quarterbacks and being associated neck-and-neck with each other, that they have gained a mutual respect for each other.
Well, game recognize game. After Fields impressive pro day performance, Lawrence shouted him out on social media.
Just another tiny chapter in the book of those two being compared to each other throughout the rest of their NFL careers. ....
