Detroit mayor primary results: Mike Duggan trounces the field

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan scored a resounding victory in Tuesday s primary election and will face Anthony Adams, ex-deputy mayor to former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, in the Nov. 2 general election. The top two finishers Tuesday are members of the same generation - Duggan is 63 and Adams is 65 - and often talk about some of the same opportunities and challenges Detroit and its residents face. But Duggan notched a lopsided victory with slightly over 72% of the vote while Adams trailed far behind with almost 10%, according to election results posted by Wayne County early Wednesday at 2:17 a.m. with 100% of the precincts fully reported. But the mayor indicated that the march to November would still be hard-fought.
