Mickey s brother William was among those shot dead in Derry in 1972 when members of the Parachute Regiment opened fire on civil rights marchers, in circumstances later described by a British prime minister as unjustified and unjustifiable . After an exhaustive public inquiry confirmed the innocence of the victims, police reported 18 soldiers to prosecutors. Charges were ultimately being brought in only one case, with Soldier F to be tried for the murder of Mr McKinney and James Wray as well as five counts of attempted murder. ....
