MASSENA â Because of COVID-19, the Massena Central School Class of 2020 missed out on a prom last year, but members are getting the opportunity to attend one this year. A âDo-Over Senior Promâ for the Class of 2020 is scheduled for Thursday at the Massena Moose Lodge, 4 Ames St. Decorating will be from 1 to 6:30 p.m., the prom runs from 7 to 10 p.m., and take-down will be that night. âOur Class of 2020 lost out on pretty much all of our senior stuff, including our prom,â organizer Brenna Strickland said. âSo weâre putting together a 2020 prom just for our class so we can kind of take back part of our senior year, even if it is a little bit late.â ....

Wednesday, January 6, 2021 - 6:09 am The American Red Cross and the National Football League are teaming up this January to urge individuals to give blood and to help tackle the national convalescent plasma shortage. St. Lawrence County residents who donate blood during a Red Cross blood drive will be automatically entered to win two tickets to next year’s Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles. In addition, those who donate from January 1-20 will also be automatically entered to win the home package for a great viewing experience safely at home, with a 65-inch television and a $500 gift card to put toward food and fun. ....
MASSENA â Eric S. âRickâ Szarka, 73, a longtime resident of Spruce Street, peacefully passed away Monday morning, December 21, 2020 at his home. Rick was born on December 7, 1947 in Massena, the son of the late Andrew C. and Irene (Geng) Szarka. He attended Massena schools graduating from Massena High School in 1966. Following graduation, he entered he US Navy, proudly serving his country for 4 years. Rick married Lynn Reynolds and was blessed with two children before their marriage ended in divorce. Throughout his life, Rick enjoyed his life as a salesman, working for Seaway VW for a time and most of his working career with WMSA Radio, where he cherished the many years and friendships he made at his âofficeâ at Bobâs Barber Shop on Main Street, Massena. Rick was also a building inspector for the Village of Massena for 19 years and worked for a brief time with General Motors. Rick had a robust personality that would brighten any room and a won ....
