The summer of 2021 was to be a summer full of education, learning, asking questions and doing for Corinna Kent, a sophomore Pre-Med student at Baylor University. Kent was back in her hometown of Needham, Massachusetts working toward her EMT certification when she volunteered to get in an extra ride in an ambulance on Friday, July 9. Those hours would go toward the required 16 hours needed for her class at MassBay Community College. ....

Carole LaMond Correspondent For 25 years, Max Hobart and Leslie Holmes have worked seamlessly together in their respective roles as music director/conductor and president of the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra, two consummate musicians so finely synchronized in running the venerated community orchestra that their passion for music infuses everything they do. Earlier this year Hobart announced he would retire at the end of the current season, and last month Holmes said she was stepping down as well. It’s a bittersweet moment for each of them, especially with the pandemic curtailing the concert season, but the absence of a busy performance schedule has also provided time to reflect on the accomplishments of their tenure and their hopes for the future of the orchestra. Both are certain the WSO is in good hands, with a strong board in place and a search for a new music director underway. ....

Members of the Wellesley Chamber will be invited to join the NNRC, according to a Wellesley Chamber s Board of Directors announcement, and we will work with the NNRC leadership to make certain that all Wellesley businesses and nonprofits have a loud and clear voice. This innovative arrangement will create synergy, offer strength and amplify impact. A Wellesley subcommittee will be devoted exclusively to Wellesley interests and ultimately participation on the NNRC s board. The idea of working with the NNRC has been under study for many months. The time is right for us to work together, the announcement said. Similar transitions are happening across the country as businesses pivot, adapt and reinvent themselves in the face of a global pandemic. This path forward is a win-win. ....
