Now it’s a huge force in the local food ecosystem. City Market works with more than 1,000 Vermont vendors from around the state. In 2020, its sales topped $53.8 million; Vermont products accounted for approximately 40 percent of that.

Upper Valley businesses join opposition to ‘divisive topics’ bill
Modified: 5/2/2021 6:05:02 PM
WEST LEBANON About a dozen Upper Valley institutions, including Dartmouth College, have signed a letter urging New Hampshire lawmakers to reject legislation that critics say would ban businesses, schools and state contractors from teaching about systemic racism.
The measure, which is included in the budget approved last month by the New Hampshire House, would ban the teaching of so-called “divisive concepts,” including the belief that “one race or sex is inherently superior to another race or sex.”
It also would prohibit teaching that the United States is “fundamentally racist or sexist,” and that any person, by virtue of their race or sex, is “inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive.” ....

Mascoma Made It Easier for VMBA to Grow

Nick Bennette, executive director of the nonprofit Vermont Mountain Bike Association There are a
lot more people mountain biking in Vermont today than there were a decade ago. Advances in trail building and bike design have attracted more entry-level riders and families; ski resorts have embraced mountain biking as an off-season revenue stream; riding in the woods solo or in small groups turned out to be an ideal pandemic pastime.
Nick Bennette, executive director of the nonprofit Vermont Mountain Bike Association, describes this as a “golden age” for the sport. Membership in VMBA aka “Vimba” hit 7,600 in 2020, up 176 percent since 2015. Over the past eight years, membership has quadrupled. The organization has helped establish more than 1,400 miles of trails. ....

James Buck
Joe Gaetani and Seth Neary of Driven Studio Driven Studio isn’t famous, but its clients are. The Burlington-based creative team does video production, photography, graphic design and copywriting for some of Vermont’s biggest brands.
The mouth-watering grilled cheese video on Cabot Creamery’s Instagram? Driven made that. The blog post about racial justice Ben & Jerry’s shared with its 8.7 million fans on Facebook? Yep, that too.
Driven partners Joe Gaetani and Seth Neary are as hard-working and determined as their company name suggests. The pair met in 2007 while freelancing for Cabot: Neary as a graphic designer; Gaetani as a videographer. United by their work ethic and an interest in adventurous recreation the two soon began sharing office space.  ....
