Briggs | Madison County Jail REXBURG A judge sentenced a Teton man to a rider program for having a sexual relationship with a teenage boy he met online. Russell J. Briggs, 40, will serve an underlying four to a 10-year prison sentence handed down by District Judge Steven Boyce. Briggs pleaded guilty in May to Idaho’s felony statutory rape charge after a 17-year-old boy’s counselor was legally obligated to disclose the teen’s sexual relationship with Briggs. Under Idaho law, a 16 or 17-year-old cannot legally consent to sex with an adult who is three or more years older. ....

Daybell, 52, appeared for his District Court Arraignment before District Judge Steven Boyce. During the hearing, Daybell entered a not guilty plea on each charge handed down last month by a Fremont County Grand Jury. Daybell and his wife Lori Vallow Daybell are accused of various crimes, including first-degree murder for the deaths of Chad’s first wife, Tammy Daybell, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow Lori’s two children. ....

ANTHONY A man has been indicted in Fremont County on several counts of lewd conduct with a child. Jeffrey L. Froehlich, 57, is charged with four felony counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 16, according to the indictment obtained by EastIdahoNews.com. The allegations of sexual abuse happened to two separate children between 2003 and 2016. Additional details were not included because the charges were through a grand jury which indicated Froehlich. When the charges came down on April 30, a warrant was issued for Froehlich’s arrest. Records indicate he was taken into custody and booked into the Fremont County Jail where he posted $50,000 bail and was released. ....
Larose man faces life in prison after child-rape conviction The Courier and Daily Comet A Larose man faces a mandatory life prison sentence after a jury found him guilty of raping a pre-teen girl multiple times over several years, authorities said. A Lafourche jury found Timothy Falgout, 37, guilty late Friday of first-degree rape of a victim under 13, parish District Attorney Kristine Russell said in a news release. The jury deliberated for just over an hour before returning the unanimous guilty verdict. State District Judge Steven M. Miller ordered Falgout be taken into custody without bond pending his May 13 sentencing. It was the first jury trial in Lafourche parish since COVID-19 closures began in March 2020. Assistant District Attorney Jason Chatagnier was the prosecutor. ....
