Mumbai: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday asked the officers to initiate talks with Bharat Biotech to get 50% of its total production of Covaxin doses in the Pune plant to be supplied to Maharashtra while the balance will go to the Centre.
Biovet Pvt Ltd, an associate firm of Bharat Biotech, is confident of making a plant at Manjari in Pune fully functional for vaccine production by August- end. Pune divisional commissioner Saurabh Rao and district collector Rajesh Deshmukh visited the plant on Wednesday. ....

Bharat Biotech set to produce vaccines at new Pune facility
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday said the State must be given preference in terms of vaccine supply after Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech fulfils its commitment to the Centre of delivering Covaxin stocks that would be rolled out in the firm’s new Pune facility in three months.
Mr. Pawar, who reviewed the COVID-19 situation in Pune on Friday, expressed hope that the firm would supply the vaccine to the State after it had fulfilled its delivery quota to the Centre. ....

In the wake of the oxygen-leak tragedy in Nashik that claimed at least 24 lives, the authorities in Pune have asked all government, civic-run and private hospitals in the district to conduct a third-party safety audit of the oxygen supply system located in their premises.
Pune District Collector Rajesh Deshmukh issued an order to this effect on April 22.
“All government, civic-run and private hospitals should carry out a third-party safety audit of the oxygen supply system to ensure that the plant, oxygen supply mechanism, and other technical things are safe and in good position,” the order said. ....

In the wake of the oxygen leak
tragedy in Nashik that claimed 22 lives, the authorities in Pune have asked all the government, civic-run and private hospitals in the district to conduct a third-party safety audit of the oxygen supply system located in their premises.
Pune District Collector Rajesh Deshmukh issued an order to this effect on Thursday.
All the government, civic-run as well as private hospitals should carry out a third-party safety audit of the oxygen supply system to ensure that the plant, oxygen supply mechanism, and other technical things are safe and in good position, the order said.
The hospitals later need to inform the civic bodies and the district administration by sending letters that their oxygen supply system is safe and secure. ....
