Mountain Scene By GUY WILLIAMS Three long-time downtown Queenstown business owners say the next six months will determine the fate of many like them. One’s closing his restaurant for good, another says he’s staring at a ‘‘bloody long autumn’’, while the third predicts half the shops on his street will be empty by the end of this winter. Darren Lovell’s legendary Beach Street seafood restaurant Fishbone would have marked 30 years in business this October.
But the resort’s second-oldest independently-owned restaurant will close its doors after tomorrow night. A ‘‘devastated’’ Lovell wonders who’ll be left standing in the town centre when international visitors eventually return. ....
I really led you right into that, Rachel. You fell right into that. I really did. Lucas, when you first learned you’d be working with the legendary Michelle Pfeiffer, what was your reaction? LH: My reaction was that I had no idea how she was going to receive me. Because she’s just an idea in my mind of somebody who exists in a certain kind of cinema that has a very large scope, or at least those were my associations growing up with you, Michelle. I wouldn’t say I found my groove with her until we started filming. It was interesting. It was almost the opposite usually I meet somebody in person, and then when I get on camera with them, things change. But with you, it was like I met you on set. It felt like I met you through the character. And from there I felt most comfortable in our relationship. ....
RESIDENTS in parts of Cardigan are being given the chance to sign up to a scheme aimed at installing ultrafast broadband. The first stage of the UK Government’s pilot scheme to bring ultrafast broadband to West Wales has been completed. Residents and businesses were given until October 31, 2020 to register with the Broadband Upgrade Fund for vouchers worth up to £ 3,500 to be used towards the cost of installing fast, reliable broadband connections to their premises. The second stage is now underway with community co-ordinators talking to suppliers who have expressed an interest in connecting residents to ultrafast broadband. There are several suppliers for each part of Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire and it is up to the Community Co-ordinators to recommend to residents which supplier best suits the area’s needs. ....
French Exit Trailer Starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Lucas Hedges Sony Pictures Classics has released the official trailer for director Azazel Jacobs’ forthcoming dark comedy film titled French Exit, featuring Academy Award nominees Michelle Pfeiffer and Lucas Hedges as their characters move to Paris to start a new life after going broke in New York.
