Adam Beech A family-owned robotics company from Holland has established a headquarters for its UK and Ireland operations at Quartz Point business park in Birmingham. Lely Atlantic, which specialises in automated and robotic systems for housing, feeding and milking dairy cattle, is also opening a showroom on the site to display its equipment to potential customers. The company has signed for a ten-year lease on its 6,200 sq ft unit after moving from serviced offices at another West Midland location. Birmingham-based independents KWB handled the transaction on behalf of the park s owner, Colmore Capital. Malcolm Jones, head of office agency at KWB, said: They re an international and very successful brand working in advanced technology and robotics and could have chosen to base their new HQ and showroom anywhere. ....
Brunswick sand mine could be used for future housing, businesses John Orona, Wilmington StarNews A Brunswick sand mine going back before the county planning board this week could be rezoned for conditional residential and commercial use. The property, located at 3940, 3950, and 3954 Southport Supply Road SE, has been used to supply infill material as part of a North Carolina Department of Transportation project, making it exempt from Brunswick County zoning restrictions that wouldn t normally allow mining in the area. With a successful rezoning from Commercial Low Density to Commercial Intensive Conditional Zoning, the applicant would be allowed to continue mining activity outside the scope of the NCDOT project, and could eventually use the area for planned development or small scale commercial uses. ....
RESIDENTS living beside Machen Mountain in Caerphilly borough say they have spent days “worried and on edge” after more than 400 grass fires wrecked the landscape. The fires started last Thursday, and on Tuesday fire crews were still at the scene, as another fire broke out on the Cwm Fedw side of the mountain in the early afternoon. By then crews had already extinguished fires, thought to be caused deliberately, across more than 50 hectares – the equivalent to 70 football pitches. People living nearby have been advised to close their windows and doors, but many said they couldn’t help come out to look, because they are so worried. ....
