Letters: Sturgeon is right to show caution on lockdown exit. Why can't she do the same with indie?

Letters: Sturgeon is right to show caution on lockdown exit. Why can t she do the same with indie?
Nicola Sturgeon has been criticised for the pace of the Scottish Government s proposed route out of lockdown
I WOULD not have thought it a surprise to anyone to read your front-page headline on the latest Covid announcement from Holyrood (“Outcry over Sturgeon’s ‘too cautious’ lockdown exit plan”, The Herald, February 24).
Doubtless the criticism is prompted by a comparison with the similarly-timed but more specific timetable announced from 10 Downing Street for unlocking England. However, we must always bear in mind that Boris Johnson is a journalist and therefore very conscious of the public mood and how he can reflect it in the media. ....

Letters: Sturgeon should stop being stubborn and align with UK quarantine rules

IN the blue corner we have Scotland requiring all inbound international passengers to quarantine at an airport hotel. In the red corner England, where only those arriving from the red list countries need do the same. At present both systems are flawed. What we need is to develop and agree a national policy. Instead we are swinging political punches in a blame game with no winners ( Sturgeon threatens to shut border over loophole row , The Herald, February 16).
Air passenger numbers are low. It is illegal to go on holiday. Anyone flying requires a negative test before travelling. Everyone has to self-isolate for 10 days on arrival. Scotland s current well-intentioned policy has backfired due to a loophole which actively encourages travellers to arrive via England instead. ....

Letters: Focus on getting the country vaccinated – not going after travellers

SIR – The complaint that vaccination passports are “discriminatory” is puzzling.
They are supposed to discriminate between those who have been vaccinated and those who have not.

I could not visit my daughter in the United States last summer because flights were cancelled. I hope I will not be barred from seeing her this year because some people refuse vaccination or have not yet been offered one.
It should not be equal misery for all.
