Suffolk is the perfect county to plan a leisurely walk that all the family can enjoy, whether you re spending time beside the coast or in the gently, rolling countryside. These easy going walks provides opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors.
Southwold - Distance: 4 miles/6.4km
Start in front of Southwold Pier facing inland. Turn left and follow the path beside the railings, onto the low cliffs to South Green (signed). Turn right. Walk across the grass until you come to a large green. Cross the road, head towards the post box, continue into a short dead-end lane. At the end, take the path between two flint walls. As the path turns left, continue along on the footpath.
It s often described as a beautiful, peaceful stretch of the Suffolk coastline, but hundreds of years ago, bandits and smugglers would hide out in the cliffs and coves of Sailors Path, hijacking unsuspecting wealthy visitors who d recently arrived by ship.

Proposals for improved public access to a 39-mile (62km) stretch of coast between Bawdsey and Aldeburgh have been unveiled today, Wednesday 3 February 2021, by Natural England.
When established, this fifth and final stretch of the path will complete a 138-mile (222km) coastal route along the Suffolk coast. It will run from the Essex/Suffolk border near Manningtree to the Suffolk/Norfolk border at Hopton-on-Sea. Extending around the Alde and Ore estuary, it includes 3 rivers: the Ore, Butley and Alde.
