The Homes of Tipperary. In my childhood ignorance, I thought the (unread) novel was about nursing homes.
Our shop was a wonderful vantage point for my early interest in the world of healthcare. Opposite was Saint Anne’s Home or Nurse Hogan’s. One of four – along with Nurse O’Connor’s, Nurse O’Dwyer’s and Nurse Ryan’s. From the surnames alone you could easily identify the geographic location.

Sloane Ryan
OGDENSBURG The valedictorian and salutatorian for the class of 2021 at Ogdensburg City School District have been named. The district is proud announced their valedictorian as Sloane Ryan and their salutatorian as DeAnna Fennessy.
Sloane Ryan, valedictorian, is the daughter of Garth and Molly Ryan of Ogdensburg. With a grade point average of 99.28, she ranks number one in her class of 106 seniors. Sloane will graduate in June 2021 with a Regents diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and an annotation that denotes Mastery in Mathematics and Science.
Outside of academics, Ryan is well-known in the district and community as an outstanding vocalist and actress, having starred in community productions and school productions. Sloane has performed vocal and instrumental solos for NYSSMA for years, and she has participated in very competitive All-County, Area All-State, All-State, and All-Eastern vocal programs

Deputy Health and Disability Commissioner Rose Wall today
released a report finding a rest home provider and two
registered nurses in breach of the Code of Health and
Disability Services Consumers’ Rights (the Code) for
failures in the care of an elderly resident.
The man,
aged in his eighties at the time of events, had multiple
existing health conditions and was prescribed morphine for
worsening pain. One morning, a registered nurse and two
caregivers were on duty. None of these staff members had met
the medication competency requirements set out in the rest
