The city of Norfolk has helped restaurants survive during the COVID-19 pandemic, including easing the process of outdoor dining. Now, one group is offering an opportunity to create a more lasting and palatable experience. “I don’t thin the trend of outdoor dining is going away anytime soon,” said Malia McGee, co-owner of Four Eleven York Street. In December, McGee installed four heaters, courtesy of the City of Norfolk, in the patio of her restaurant. ....

The âOpen Norfolkâ initiative helps restaurant owners obtain permits for outdoor seating and has also used funding from Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security, or CARES Act, to purchase patio lighting - and now, electric heaters.
