Sean McNeil returning for final season at West Virginia By Sean McNeil will return for one final season at West Virginia. Photo by Ben Queen McNeil, who revealed in March he would enter the NBA Draft process, officially announced his intention to return to West Virginia for a third and final season with the Mountaineers. The 6-foot-3 McNeil was the team’s fourth-leading scorer last season with 12.2 points per game. He made a team-high 69 3-pointers, while shooting nearly 39 percent beyond the arc. McNeil also made 89 percent of his 54 free-throw attempts. With McNeil back, WVU will have four senior guards next season. Earlier this offseason, Taz Sherman announced he would play one more season for the Mountaineers, capitalizing on a free year of eligibility due to the pandemic. ....
May 9, 2021 MORGANTOWN, W.Va. â The passage of the rule by the NCAA allowing all student-athletes the opportunity to transfer once in their college careers without having to sit out a year has opened the floodgates of the transfer portal, which serves as a database for those who want to move to a new school. There are over 1,500 Division I college football players currently in the portal, and another 1,000 menâs basketball players. A recent count found 122 quarterbacks alone in the portal, and while a large number have already found new homes, approximately 50% have not yet. Itâs estimated that roughly 30% of all those who enter the transfer portal wonât find an equivalent scholarship on the other end. ....
