DPR to Inaugurate Dispute Resolution Centre


The Head of Public Affairs at DPR, Mr. Paul Osu, disclosed this in a statement.
The ADRC is one of the flagship centres in the National Oil and Gas Excellence Centre (NOGEC) which was recently launched by President Muhammadu Buhari. The oil and gas ADRC will offer arbitration, mediation and conciliation services for the industry. The centre will leverage industry technical experts, Alternative Dispute Resolution Practitioners and resources of the National Data Repository (NDR) to provide fair and balanced resolutions of industry-related disputes from an informed position.
The ADRC is structured to adequately resolve disputes in a manner consistent with regulatory and commercial interests of the Industry. This, the agency noted, will address suboptimal development of oil and gas assets associated with lingering disputes and the attendant consequences of value erosion in terms of national resource growth, global competitiveness, investment attractiveness, government take and ....

Legislative framework and causes of action
Brazil is a signatory to the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property. The Brazilian Federal Constitution protects copyright, patent and trademark rights. All aspects of trademarks in Brazil are governed by the Industrial Property Act (Federal Law 9279/1996).
The Industrial Property Act enforces the priority rule, whereby trademark registration is granted to the first applicant who files the inherent application before the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (INPI). However, if at the priority date any person or entity has been using an identical or similar trademark in Brazil in good faith for at least six months to distinguish or certify an identical or similar product or service, it will be entitled to registration priority. Only visually perceptible trademarks may be registered, which presents difficulties for non-traditional trademarks. Slogan registration is prohibited, but may be protected under copyrigh ....

GNAAP urges Government to establish Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre

Mr Daniel Owusu-Koranteng, President, Ghana National Association of ADR Practitioners (GNAAP), has called on Government to establish the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre as provided in section 114 of the ADR Act, 2010 (ACT 798).
This, Mr Owusu-Koranteng said would enable such a Centre perform the functions that are provided in the ADR Act for the promotion of ADR Practice in Ghana.
The ACT provides for the settlement of disputes by arbitration, mediation and customary arbitration, to establish an Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre and to provide for related matters.
He noted that provision had not being made in the ADR ACT, 2010 (ACT 798) for representation of ADR professionals on the Governing Board of the ADR Centre.] ....

Osinbajo: Govt Alone Can't Provide People's Economic Needs

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday appealed to well-meaning citizens to adopt development programmes or projects for their various communities amid acute infrastructure deficit facing the country.
Osinbajo, also, noted that governments alone could not meet the social and economic needs of the people, hence the need for individual and corporate interventions to address infrastructure deficit in communities.
He made the call at the 1st Annual General Meeting of Remo Growth and Development Foundation (RemoGDF), held at the foundation’s secretariat in Iperu-Remo, Ogun State.
He particularly commended personalities in his Remo native community of Ogun State while urging others to emulate them. He said they had excelled in bringing economic prosperity to the grassroots. ....
