ETFGI Reports Assets Invested In ETFs And ETPs Listed Globally Reached US$8.95 Trillion At The End Of April 2021

<p><span>ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETFs and ETPs ecosystem, reported today that ETFs and ETPs listed globally gathered net inflows of US$105.37 billion during April, bringing year-to-date net inflows to a record US$465.41 billion which is higher than the prior record US$184.04 billion which was gathered at this point last year. Assets invested in the global ETFs and ETPs industry have increased by 4.6% from US$8.56 trillion at the end of March 2021, to US$8.96 trillion at the end of April, according to ETFGI s April 2021 Global ETFs and ETPs industry landscape insights report, a monthly report which is part of an annual paid-for research subscription service. ESG Investing to Reach $1 Trillion by 2030, Says Head of IShares Americas as Carbon Transition Funds Launch

With U.S. investment in iShares suite of ESG funds starting to pick up in earnest this year, we re just at the very beginning of what could be a decade-long growth story, Senra said.
ESG funds are on track for a record year of inflows, raking in over $21 billion in the first quarter of 2021. That s an acceleration from 2020, when they earned over $51 billion for the year; 2019, when they accrued $21.4 billion; and 2018, when they saw about $5.4 billion in inflows.
Senra attributed the interest to larger asset managers and model portfolio managers incorporating sustainable investments into their strategies in more impactful ways. ....

BlackRock, with $9 trillion of assets under management, is giving itself an incentive to meet environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) goals by tying its own funding costs to ESG targets.
A consortium of banks has given the asset manager a $4.4 billion, 5-year credit line to access in case of emergencies. The costs of its borrowing will be reduced if the company meets goals for minority employment and gender-diverse senior leadership.
In effect, the deal conveys the message that banks can discount capital costs in exchange for social responsibility. Banks involved include Wells Fargo, the administrative agent; Citigroup, the syndication agent; and a long list of international banks including Bank of China, Barclays, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas and Royal Bank of Canada.
