Year-long waits for treatment triple at Russells Hall Hospital during second Covid wave

The number of people waiting more than a year for treatment at Russells Hall Hospital has more than tripled during the second wave of coronavirus.

Meanwhile more than 4,000 patients are now waiting longer than 18 weeks for treatment at Dudley s main hospital.
The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust – which runs Russells Hall Hospital – revealed the numbers had risen as a result of the virus.
It comes after theatre staff were redeployed to the critical care department due to the need to prioritise emergency care at the hospital.
The move has seen theatre capacity at the hospital reduced from nine to six theatres in order to cope with the high levels of demand. ....

Some areas of England have administered large numbers of full Covid vaccines (two doses), while others have only given one jab, according to new figures.
Recent NHS England data by the Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP) shows that some parts of the country have fully vaccinated over 20 per cent of their over-80s population, but in some areas the figure is as low as 0.1 per cent.

Areas of England hit hardest by Covid have seen a slower vaccination rollout since the administering of jabs began in December, analysis by The Telegraph has found.
The slowest 10 per cent of areas have seen on average twice as many Covid infections as the top 10 per cent, according to data from NHS England and Public Health England. 
According to vaccination data published by NHS England, the percentage of people of all ages receiving their first jab is lowest in parts of London despite the capital seeing large numbers of new cases. ....
