Bexar County has banned certain types of fireworks ahead of New Year s Eve.
In an order approved by the County Commissioner s Court earlier this month, residents aren t allowed to sell, detonate or ignite fireworks classified as sky rocket sticks or missiles with fins, said county spokeswoman Monica Ramos.
The ban runs through Jan. 14.
The ban classifies the offense as a Class C misdemeanor and is punishable up to a $2,000 fine.
Ramos said the order goes hand in hand with the county s current burn ban brought on by the area s current drought conditions. ....

SAN ANTONIO – Interns related to two high-ranking Bexar County leaders at times worked an average of 56 hours a week or more, according to compensation records obtained by the KSAT 12 Defenders.
The paystubs cover the 2019 summer internships of Madison Dupuis and Derek Guevara, both of whom are third-degree blood relatives of county leaders, public records reveal. Employee relatives within three degrees include nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and are prohibited under the county’s nepotism policy. ....

SAN ANTONIO – Revelers who want to celebrate the end of 2020 with a bang will be restricted to certain fireworks this year.
The Bexar County Commissioners Court has approved a ban on the sale and use of “restricted” fireworks until Jan. 14, unless shortened.
Those fireworks include “skyrockets with sticks” and “missiles with fins,” as classified under state law.
