ATLANTA – Today it was announced that Atlanta Hawks guard/forward Cam Reddish has been awarded the Jason Collier Memorial Trophy for the 2020-21 season. Reddish is the 14th player to receive the award, earned annually by the Hawks player who most closely exemplifies the characteristics of a community ambassador displayed by Collier, the late Atlanta center who passed away in 2005. “It is my responsibility to support the communities that have played, and continue to play, such a huge part in my life. After my rookie season, I truly understood the powerful platform I have as a professional athlete and how much of an impact that I can make,” said Reddish. “It is an honor to receive this award, but I know this is just the start. I’m looking forward to helping others and creating change for years to come.” ....

Amanda Rae Williams, 32, of Carthage, and Illona Annette Amburn, 41, of Longview, pleaded guilty on August 4, 2020 to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. They were both sentenced to ten years in federal prison today. Marvin Robert Williams, 38, also of Carthage, Texas, pleaded guilty on Sep. 22, 2020, to use, carrying, and possession of a firearm during and in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Today, he was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison. Larry Demontrie Mock, a/k/a “Boogati,” 39, of Houston, pleaded guilty on Dec. 7, 2020 to conspiracy to distribut ....

(AP) More than 100 former North Carolina men’s basketball and women’s soccer players are joining a group-licensing program allowing them to profit from their playing days with the Tar Heels. The school announced an agreement Tuesday with marketing and licensing agency The Brandr Group (TBG), allowing for merchandising licensed products such as school-branded apparel featuring those athletes’ names and jersey numbers after they have left school. Athletes in the group would share in profits from merchandising pursued by TBG. Men’s basketball players to join include current NBA player Danny Green, Marvin Williams, Tyler Hansbrough, Sean May and new head men’s basketball coach Hubert Davis. For women’s soccer, the list includes World Cup champions and Olympic gold medalists Mia Hamm and Heather O’Reilly. ....
