Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital announced that Logix Federal Credit Union will continue to sponsor the hospital’s Foundation Palliative Care Teddy Bear program. Since 2018, the Palliative Care program at Henry Mayo has used teddy bears to provide comfort to many parents and their children. The bears also bring comfort to the staff involved in difficult cases. When a patient is terminally ill, his or her heartbeat can be recorded by the teddy bear, which is then given to a patient’s family member as a keepsake. “The response we get from the families that receive a bear has been very positive,” said Balbir Brar, MD, Medical Director of Palliative Care at Henry Mayo. “When a loved one enters the final stages of life, we are able to record the heartbeat of the patient, place the recording in the bear and present the bear as a gift to the child or family member.” ....

Former Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation President Diana Vose died Wednesday after suffering a stroke in November, according to hospital officials. Vose began her career at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in late 1981 as a development and community relations assistant and retired in 2015 after serving 14 years as president of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation. “Diana was a beloved leader at our hospital, and tireless in her efforts to expand our facility and programs. Her work is seen throughout our campus and will be remembered by generations to come,” said Roger E. Community Remembers Former Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation President Diana Vose The passing of former Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation President Diana Vose, who suffered a stroke in November, was announced Wednesday. Vose began her tenure as president of the Henry Mayo Foundation in 2001, having been part of Henry Mayo’s philanthropic program since 1982. In addition to heading fundraising programs, she played a major role in the development, recruitment and management of the Foundation’s 22-member Board of Directors and related committees and support groups, according to a previous KHTS story. “Over her many years at Henry Mayo, Diana was instrumental in raising over $25 million for building and development, equipment, and healthcare programs,” read a Facebook post from the hospital Monday. “Henry Mayo has great appreciation for her years of compassionate and strategic leadership as we expanded to serve our community.” ....
