The Open Meeting Law stipulates that all meetings of public bodies must be held in public though certain elements of the law have been modified to allow for remote access during the pandemic and notice of such a meeting must be posted at least 48 hours in advance. ....

While it is easy and tempting to make this kind of broad-brush assertion, it is not universally accurate. In the Mohawk Trail district, our teachers and paraprofessionals have been active, flexible partners in creating and implementing our return-to-learn plans. Their participation has made our planning process better, not longer. No, all of our students are not attending in person on all days, but the most important impediment to that is COVID-19. Based on the plan presented at Wednesday’s meeting and during a prior virtual town hall, preschool through second grade will enter Phase 1 of the hybrid model on Jan. 11, while students in grades three through 12 will enter Phase 1 on Jan. 19.
