There is an ancient proverb that comes to mind: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.” And so it began in April of 2000. I prevailed (by a whopping 10 votes!) in a special election for a seat in the New York State Assembly. It was the beginning of a long, incredible journey.
I have steadfastly communicated to my constituents and other interested folks my opinions, thoughts and ideas in an effort to always keep you informed about the world of state government. This is my last weekly column as a New York state assemblyman, one that I have penned over 1,000 times alone. I always tried to do my best to keep you informed through countless email and snail mail updates, press releases, statements, media interviews, radio and TV shows and, in today’s world, podcasts to let you know what I was up to and what I believed in. ....
