By Martha Agas Jos, May 25, 2021 Gov. Simon Lalong on Tuesday inaugurated a 10-Member Plateau Steering Committee, on COVID-19 Action Economic Stimulus Programme for Result (NG-CARES). Inaugurating the committee at Government House Jos, Lalong charged members to justify the confidence reposed in them, by delivering on the targets of the programme. “By this inauguration, Plateau is fully ready to participate in the implementation of the programme which is financed by the World Bank. “Our dear State has qualified to access 20 million dollars (over N8 billion ) from the 750 million dollars to be accessed by the Federal Government, to address the negative consequences of COVID-19 on our economy,” he said ....

The late Momoh passed on at the age of 81. The Chairman of the forum and governor of Plateau, Simon Lalong, in a condolence message issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Makut Macham, on Tuesday, in Jos, described the death of Momoh as a great loss to the nation. He said the deceased, who had made impact in various spheres of the polity, was a man of vast experience, having served as a teacher, before making his mark as one of Nigeria’s most versatile journalist, administrator, politician and lawyer. ....
By Martha Agas Jos, Jan. 22 2021 Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau has constituted a 7- man committee to look into the impending strike by the staff of Plateau State University (PLASU). This was in a bid to end the indefinite strike embarked by members of the PLASU branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Dr Makut Macham, Director of Press and Public Affairs Government House, Jos, in a statement on Friday said the committee would also look into other matters raised by the union. The Committee members are: State Head of Service, Mr Izam Azi (Chairman) and Mr Isaac Maran, Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Office of the Head of Service, Secretary. ....
By Martha Agas Bokkos (Plateau), Jan. 18, 2021 (NAN) Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau has assured students of the State University, Bokkos, of safety as they prepare to resume. Lalong, who gave the assurance on Monday in Bokkos during inspection of ongoing 15 projects in the school, also promised improved infrastructure during resumption. He said his administration was committed to control COVID-19 spread and implored the students to adhere to the safety protocols, especially with the advent of the new variant of the disease. “Do your best to protect yourselves in the pandemic,” the governor stressed. He said that the project was supported by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and that more faculties and structures would be constructed in the school. ....
