WINNIPEG Provinces throughout the country, including Manitoba are being called upon to search all residential school grounds for burial sites after the remains of 215 Indigenous children were found in Kamloops, B.C. As the calls include the federal and provincial governments helping with the search, school survivors and First Nations leaders say the potential that there are more gravesites has been known for years. Sinclair said survivors shared their stories with a belief that things would get better in Canada. They were looking for somebody to take the story seriously and start to do something about not just the history of residential schools, but also about the impact the residential schools have had, so that their children and their grandchildren and great grandchildren would be able to benefit from the telling of their stories, said Sinclair.
